what i've been doing is using intuit eq across the whole range then re shaping certain peaks/valleys using the 1/12 octave process as introduced in V2.3.
Its quite quick and gives me confidence to hear that it isn't too off the track from the original but does always sound better.
When i'm re-shaping the selected sections i am always referring to the graph pattern from the original file.
Its sort of best of both worlds.. intuit eq for gross 'balancing' then fine adjustments to 'clearify' the mix .. works for me!
