Re: Let's Talk
Hi Paavo: I'm having problems opening rendered files in HB 3 (0961). I thought this might be a bug with 094 but this is still happening. I'll like to compare before and after files I master for my clients, and HB gives me a quick to match volumes and then compare them. The files peak at -0.3 dB. Thi...

Re: Har-Bal Song Snap Shot
It's listed in the userprofile. I would really prefer a wav or AIFF file if possible. Thanks!

Re: Har-Bal Song Snap Shot
Without actually hearing the track, (and assuming that it is a full mix), visually there is a boost at what looks like 280Hz which can cause problems with clarity (ie: muddiness) and playback on boomboxes. I hear (and see this in HarBal) a lot with client mixes in this region (200Hz - 500+ Hz). Try ...

Re: Correcting speed after the mastering
If you have (or know someone who has) WaveLab 6 there is an extraordinary time stretcher/pitch shifter processor in this program. I had to time stretch a file almost to half speed and I was amazed at the quality. To my ears it was as good as anything Melodyne was doing.

Re: 96KHZ at 44.1khz
This post is more about something Paavo said rather than the present topic - it deals with converting a 96kHz file to the CD (44.1kHz) rate. I was fortunate a while back to attend an AES meeting in Toronto with Bob Ludwig as the guest speaker (It was, no doubt, one of the best attended meetings in m...

Hardware vs. Softward
Earle In your opinion, are there any software (plug-in) compressors that come close to hardware units - for example, your Avalon 747? In my work at present I'm only able to work in the digital domain. I would really value your insight on this as you're one of the few ME's I've come across that doesn...

Bonzo I'd like to add a comment about Magneto as I often use it on my clients' masters. If your levels going into Magneto don't exceed 0 dBFS then your output will never be over 0 dBFS. So you wouldn't need a limiter unless you needed to add an extra dB or two of gain. However if you needed that ext...

The Match Loudness Cursor
Hi Earle, Paavo First off, congrats for the amazing update! The clarity the newly coded IntuitQ provides a mix while maintinaing its original intent is amazing. Just what the producer ordered!! Next, I was wondering if Earle could give me a little more direction as to selecting the best portions of ...

Key Command Suggestion
Hi Paavo Seeing that you can hold down a "letter" key and use it as a modifier, how about this: hold down "P" and using the left/right arrow keys move the playback position ten seconds backward/forward; hold down "P" + SHIFT and the arrow keys move back/forth in one sec...
